Court approved parent coordination

A Parent coordinator helps parents who struggle to communicate or make decisions about their child. A neutral third party, to help parents work through disagreements and focus on child-related decisions. It is often ordered by the court following a custody order, but parents may also choose it voluntarily to resolve conflicts or reach agreements. Parent coordination can be especially helpful for co-parents who frequently argue, but even parents who generally cooperate may benefit when they reach difficult disagreements.

Types of Parent Coordination

  • Court ordered
  • Voluntary

Why it Works

  • It reduces the chance of returning to court.
  • Parents may have fewer arguments.
  • Less conflict could create a more positive home environment for the child.
  • Parents get an outside opinion that places the child at the forefront.
  • Parents find out the root cause of the conflict so they can squash it.
  • The focus shifts from disagreements to parenting.
  • It encourages parents to be more active in their child's life.
